”I’m Sten Heijster. I’m an interdisciplinary visual artist based in Espoo, working at the intersection of moving image, public scenography and performance. In my practice I am interested in exploring playful transformations of public spaces through audiovisual interventions and performances. Having previously studied fine art, my approach is poetic, non-media specific, and driven by experimentation and improvisation.”
”Movement plays a major role in my work. My drawings evoke feelings and memories of innocence, fragility, childhood, and violence. I translate my experiences into lines and movements. Sometimes recognizable shapes and forms emerge from my explorations.”
A tricycle rigged with a battery and a video projector becomes an open-air drawing tool. Passers-by are invited to draw their own characters, which are then beamed onto the walls and façades of buildings around the festival site, turning the city into a shared, ever-changing canvas. The piece is a playful exploration of how technology can quietly reshape public space, inviting people to leave temporary imaginary lines on the streets.
