Roberto Maqueda & Fabrizio di Salvo
PRESENT
(ex)tension
AV Live

Roberto Maqueda identifies as a heterodox artist operating across experimental art, electronic music, and club culture. Based in Basel, and rooted in percussion, he has expanded the art of drumming by applying engineering and sound automation, building systems that integrate acoustic and electronic practices.

In the club scene, his techno alias Mitospora merges club sounds with sonic experimentation, navigating the boundary between underground and noise — transforming raw energy into a shared experience where dance and deep listening converge.

He co-directs FOG Festival (Basel) and HELIX Festival (Buenos Aires), and previously co-directed EXIT Festival (Montevideo). He has appeared at festivals including SONICA, Indigo, Manifeste, SPOR and MaerzMusik.

(ex)tension is a non-frontal sound performance built from small mechanical impulses distributed around the audience. Motors, solenoids and resonant objects activate in space, each paired with a light. Sometimes sound and light act together, sometimes they contradict, sometimes only the light remains. As the relation repeats, the audience begins to anticipate sound through light — attention shifting from what is heard to what is expected. The single percussive impulse becomes the core compositional unit, moving through space in real time. The piece asks directly what we actually attend to: vibration, image, or expectation — a question of noise, pattern and presence at the threshold where signal becomes anticipation.
