Expanded Cinema and Fulldome Fallacies gathers artists and technical practitioners to discuss the reality of making work for hemispherical projection and spatial audio. Connecting early expanded cinema experiments with modern immersive environments, this panel looks past the hype to address the actual challenges of the medium, from room acoustics and real-time visual setups to breaking traditional screen narratives. Addressing the theme Attention, please!, the speakers explore how spatial media can demand focus and shared presence, shifting the dome away from high-tech spectacle toward meaningful visual art.

Jonas Johansson (b. 1987, Glommen, Sweden) is an artist, educator and designer working with light, projection and interactive systems. He writes software, builds electronics and fabricates structures, at scales from the handheld to the architectural. His methodology is ludic and aleatory, taking the form of material puzzles, games and playable interfaces that hand control to the audience. He begins each project in an unknown medium or questionable space. In 2016 he co-founded Nordic Audiovisual Artists, in 2017 the lighting collective Svartljus, in 2022 the artist residency Visualia, and in 2026 Dome Dreaming, the Nordics’ first fulldome festival. He taught at Beckmans College of Design (2017–2025) and Hyper Island (2014–2022).
