ever dream is our very first VJ performance, the finale of a VJ course we attended in 2022.On that course, we (Samu, Siiri, and Oona) learned for the first time the basics of VJing and 3D-animation, and through it got to explore a completely new world of self-expression. We have since then worked in the VJ field as individual performers, in the creative collective Noin Seitsemän, at clubs, festivals, gigs, and so on, but fever dream is where it all began. It’s a dream where we want to return for an obscure rekindling of our early wild and free ideas. Named after its main source of inspiration, fever dream binds to no specific rules or logic. We are a group of three VJs, we have three computers, and three subconsciences projected on the wall all at once.

For this performance, we want to return to our ideas before a proper understanding of VJing conventions and the limitations of traditional club spaces. After a few active years in the field, we recognize something exceptional in the materials and processes that we once deemed too bright, flashy, or demanding. Elements we saw as amateuristic then now remind us what was at the irregularly beating heart of fever dream: play and improvisation. We’ll take a deep dive into our own archives and see what we now can do with clips born from the simplest motivations: What would be the coolest? What would be the most eye-catching? What would make us laugh hardest? What would be the most of everything? We are going to let go of the learned visual decorum and get back to shits and giggles.
